BSNL launches Re 1 Freedom Offer with unlimited calls and 4G internet | Technology News


Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the government-owned telecom network, has introduced a promotional offer that offers unlimited voice calls and 4G data at just Re 1.

In a post on X, BSNL announced that its limited-time Freedom Offer will be available till August 31 and will come with perks like unlimited local and national voice calls, 100 SMS per day, and 2GB of 4G mobile data every day, along with a new SIM card.

Under BSNL’s fair usage policy, commonly referred to as FUP, internet speed will be reduced to 40kbps when subscribers exhaust their daily mobile data quota. BSNL’s new Freedom Offer is only applicable to new users, which means you won’t be able to claim it if you are an existing subscriber.

To claim BSNL’s new Azadi ka plan, customers will have to visit their nearest BSNL retailer or Common Services Centres, which are physical stores that let you avail services like issuing a new SIM card, paying bills and recharging mobile plans. However, it is still unclear if the Freedom offer will be available for users who use BSNL’s SIM card doorstep delivery service.

In a statement, A Robert J. Ravi, BSNL’s CMD, said, “With BSNL’s 4G—designed, developed, and deployed under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission—we are proud to be putting India among a select group of nations that have built their own telecom stack. Our ‘Freedom Plan’ gives every Indian a chance to test and experience this indigenous network for 30 days—free of cost—and we are confident they will see the BSNL difference.” He went on to say that BSNL is rolling out indigenously developed 100,000 4G towers across the country, which will enable those living in rural areas to use high-speed internet.

To give you a quick recap, the company’s competitors –  Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea offering similar benefits with their Rs 349, Rs 379 and Rs 399 plans, respectively.
