2197 yatris embark on Amarnath pilgrimage from Jammu

Jammu, Jul 27: Fresh batch of 2197 pilgrims Sunday left for holy Shri Amarnath shrine in South Kashmir from Jammu for undertaking annual pilgrimage under heavy security.

This was 25th batch of pilgrims who embarked on Yatra from Yatri Niwas – Jammu based camp at Bhagwati Nagar.

As per officials, 1764 males, 365 females, 9 children, 49 Sadhus and 10 Sadhvis left from Jammu base camp in 100 vehicles, including 53 buses and 26 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) for twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal.

573 Yatris, including 408 males, 161 females and 4 children left for Baltal axis. They left in a cavalcade of 38 vehicles, including 11 buses and 15 LMVs at 3.31 am.
