Chandrababu Naidu’s Singapore Visit to Boost Andhra Pradesh Investments, ETGovernment

Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, along with a team of ministers and officials, left for Singapore on Saturday night.

While attracting investments is the broader agenda of the tour, discussions with the Singapore govt for a possible collaboration in the capital Amaravati project are likely to take centre stage. Apart from the capital city project, the state govt is eyeing investments in ports and other infrastructure projects.

Naidu made his intentions clear, stating that this visit is to renew the partnership with Singapore. Taking to X on the eve of leaving for Singapore, Naidu wrote, “Heading tonight for Singapore, one of our most valued partners in growth and home to a vibrant Telugu community. I look forward to meeting ministers, industry leaders, and members of the Telugu diaspora tomorrow. Singapore has been a key partner in Andhra Pradesh’s development journey. As one of Asia’s most advanced and forward-looking economies, it offers valuable opportunities for deeper collaboration. This visit is an opportunity to renew our trusted partnership, promote Brand Andhra Pradesh on the global stage, showcase our new progressive policies, and build lasting collaborations for inclusive growth.”

The chief minister’s visit will begin with a meeting with the Indian high commissioner in Singapore, followed by a discussion with the representatives of Surbana Jurong. Later, he will meet Tan Sri Dato A K Nathan, chairman of Eversendai Engineering Pvt Ltd, to discuss investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.

Later during the day, Naidu will address the Telugu diaspora. Around 1,500 delegates from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines are expected to attend the meeting with Naidu. The Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu (APNRT) Society is organising the meeting with entrepreneurs, persons in high positions in various companies, and professionals hailing from AP and settled in various countries. Naidu will appeal to the Telugu community to take part in AP development by investing in the state and partnering with the govt in the P-4 initiative aimed at ending poverty.

On the second day of the visit, Naidu will meet the minister of trade and industry of Singapore to discuss possible collaborations with AP. To understand sustainable urban planning strategies, the chief minister is slated to visit Bidadari Estate along with his team, where he will also participate in a round table on sustainable urban development.

Naidu’s team will also explore sports infrastructure by visiting Singapore Sports School, designed to promote youth engagement in sports. They will also tour Tuas Port to study port-led industrialisation, infrastructure development, and the port-based ecosystem. The chief minister will also participate in the Andhra Pradesh – Singapore Business Forum’s roadshow aimed at building networks with investors.

On July 29, Naidu will hold a series of meetings with top firms in IT, fintech, engineering, and infrastructure development, followed by a round table with the representatives of the top ten international companies. Later, he is scheduled to meet the President of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Overall, Naidu and his team will participate in 29 engagements at different levels during their five-day visit to Singapore.
