Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit Madhya Pradesh on August 10 to lay the foundation stone for a new ₹1,800-crore rail coach manufacturing unit in Raisen district, reports IANS.
The manufacturing unit will be established by BEML Limited, a Bengaluru-based company renowned for manufacturing heavy equipment, including earthmoving, transport, railway, and mining machinery.
The new facility will be located in Umaria village, Goharganj tehsil, Raisen district, which is approximately 50 km from the state capital, Bhopal.
The initial announcement for this significant investment was made by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav during his visit to Bengaluru for a business meet earlier in May this year.
Chief Minister Yadav noted the establishment of this unit will create substantial employment opportunities for local youth and foster a positive economic transformation in the region.
Raghavendra Singh, Principal Secretary (Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion) of the Madhya Pradesh government, who was also present at the meeting, stated that the facility is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for approximately 1,575 people.
