Rahul excuse ready for Bihar loss, cooks up bizarre plots after string of defeats: BJP | India News

The BJP on Saturday accused Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of “peddling lies” to erode trust in institutions regarding elections while claiming that he was doing so to pre-empt his party’s defeat in the upcoming elections, including Bihar.

This comes after Gandhi’s article in The Indian Express, titled “Match-fixing Maharashtra”, in which he wrote: “The scale of rigging was so desperate that, despite all efforts to conceal it, tell-tale evidence has emerged from official statistics, without reliance on any nonofficial source, revealing a step-by-step playbook.”

He also wrote that “there is apprehension that this election rigging playbook has been in play for years. Doubtless, the examination of records will also throw up the modus operandi and the cast of complicit characters. However, the Opposition and the public are blocked at every turn from accessing these records.”

Sharing his piece in a post on X on Saturday, Rahul said that the Maharashtra Assembly elections in 2024 were “a blueprint for rigging democracy” and added that “the match-fixing of Maharashtra will come to Bihar next, and then anywhere the BJP is losing”.

Targeting Gandhi, BJP president J P Nadda accused him of “cooking up bizarre conspiracies” in his desperation after losing a series of elections. In a post on X, Nadda said, “Rahul Gandhi’s latest article is a blueprint for manufacturing fake narratives, owing to his sadness and desperation of losing election after election.”

Nadda summarised how Gandhi “does it, step by step: Step 1: Congress Party gets defeated election after election due to his antics; Step 2: Instead of introspecting, he cooks up bizarre conspiracies and cries rigging; Step 3: Ignores all facts and data; Step 4: Defames institutions with zero proof; Step 5: Hopes for headlines over facts.”

Nadda claimed that Gandhi “shamelessly keeps peddling lies” because “a defeat in Bihar is certain”.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said in a post on X: “It is unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi has to resort to lies & misinformation to cover up his own shortcomings. His repeated attacks on India’s democratic institutions only expose his disdain for our Constitution given by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.”

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said in a post on X that Gandhi’s allegations were the “best example of how to blame others for (their) own failure, question the system and damage its credibility.”

Taking on Gandhi, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary told reporters: “It is natural; when a person loses, they make such statements. If they (the Congress) do not believe in democracy, then they should go among the people after tendering their resignation. All their governments should resign and go in for elections again.”

LJP (RV) chief and Union Minister Chirag Paswan claimed that Gandhi had already prepared an excuse for losing the Bihar elections. “This is the problem with these people. They always look for excuses to whitewash their defeat. They will never introspect; they will see Jai Chands in their party but will not take action on them. They see faults in the system, but will not rectify them when they are in power,” he said.

“They will raise fingers on every Constitutional post but forget that when the UPA was in power the CBI, for the first time, was referred to as a (caged) parrot. Today, they see a problem in every system; earlier it was EVMs, now that is done and dusted. What is the new excuse that you have found — addition of voters which you started in reference to Maharashtra. How long will you look for excuses? The need is for you to introspect about why the people are rejecting you,” he said.
