Rajouri, Jun 4: In a series of run up events of Jhangar Day and in an effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living, the Indian Army organised a tree plantation drive in the border areas of Nowshera near Line of Control (LoC) on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from local schools and communities. Students from multiple schools in the LoC area joined hands with army personnel to plant hundreds of saplings in Usman Memorial and Community Learning Centre and Government Secondary School Sehar near the Line of Control.
The event served as a platform to strengthen civil-military bonds and educate the younger generation on the significance of environmental conservation. In this event, over 200 saplings were planted across border villages while educational talks on environmental protection to students were also held. The event concluded with a pledge by students and soldiers to protect and preserve nature.
