Vedanta challenges ₹71 crore environmental compensation order, ET LegalWorld


Member Secretary, State Pollution Control Board, Odisha has requested Vedanta to deposit the Environmental Compensation of ₹71.16 crore, according to the Company’s regulatory filing.

The matter relates to the allegation of unauthorized disposal of fly ash. The Company is set to challenge the order before an appropriate authority. “The Company intends to take legal recourse in the present matter before the appropriate forum. The Company is hopeful of a favorable outcome thereof,” Vedanta said in their regulatory filing.

Vedanta has said that the said decision imposing the levy of Environmental Compensation was taken without taking into consideration the compliances and submissions by the Company believing to have a strong case on merits.>
