LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government’s initiative to restore the state’s heritage properties and enhance revenue sources is taking shape. On Wednesday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed for the development of Roshan-ud-Daula Kothi and Chhatar Manzil in Lucknow and Chunar Fort in Mirzapur. The agreement was signed between the Tourism Department and Golden Triangle Fort & Palace Pvt Ltd. The three heritage sites will be developed into heritage hotels, inspired by Suryagarh in Jaisalmer, where Bollywood actors Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra recently tied the knot.

Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that these properties have been allotted to Golden Triangle Fort and Palace under public-private partnership (PPP) model. The company’s hospitality arm, Suryagarh Collection known for managing Suryagarh in Jaisalmer, Narendra Bhawan in Bikaner, and Mary Budden Estate in Binsar, will oversee the design, development, and management of these sites. The restoration process will be guided with historical research and folklore, combined with a creative approach. The original materials used in their construction will be integrated with modern innovations to preserve their authenticity.

This initiative is expected to boost heritage tourism and destination weddings in Uttar Pradesh. The project will prioritize local employment and promote ODOP (One District, One Product) goods. Additionally, cultural traditions, local cuisine, festivals, and craftsmanship will be highlighted. Nearby villages will be adopted for development, enhancing the overall experience for tourists.

Uttar Pradesh is home to numerous forts, palaces, and mansions. The Tourism Department is committed to making these heritage sites more functional and attractive to visitors under its “Development with Heritage” mission. The state’s tourism policies under the PPP model aim to revamp heritage sites, including forts, havelis, haunted places, and mansions, making them viable tourist attractions.

The Suryagarh Collection has hosted several high-profile weddings, including that of Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra. The venue also served as a shooting location for the Bollywood film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
