Srinagar, March 12: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat made his maiden visit to Poonch, during which he visited near the Line of Control (LoC) to review the security situation.
The DGP also chaired a high-level security review meeting with police officers, which focused on tightening security measures to prevent ongoing infiltration attempts from Pakistan.
He also participated in an Iftar tea gathering at District Police Lines in Poonch, where he met police personnel and retired officers.
According to a senior police officer, the DGP will visit the Surankote area of the district today to assess the security situation.
The visit comes at a time when the Poonch and Rajouri areas have seen stepped up militant activities.
On Tuesday, DGP reached Rajouri, where he visited Thanamandi sub division and chaired a meeting with security force officers. He also conducted a detailed analysis of the ongoing anti-terror operations in Thanamandi subdivision areas of Rajouri district.
A series of directives were issued on multiple fronts, including investigation mechanisms and implementation of new criminal laws.
