Technical snag hits Amargarh Grid Station

Sopore, Mar 1: A technical snag in the 20 MVA, 132/33 KV power transformer at Grid Station Amargarh has led to a reduction in its capacity from 135 MVA to 115 MVA, officials said on Saturday.

A statement of the Managing Director, JKPTCL, issued here said that as a result, the overall load has been impacted by 18 MW, necessitating additional distress power cuts of 60 minutes on all outgoing feeders from the grid station.

These curtailments will be enforced in rotation across the areas receiving power supply from the station with immediate effect, the officials said.

The affected areas include Sopore, Rafiabad, Nowpora, SIDCO, Arampora, and adjoining localities.

Meanwhile, authorities said a new 80 MVA power transformer is under commissioning at the Amargarh Grid Station and is expected to be operational at the earliest.

Officials have expressed regret over the inconvenience caused due to the additional power curtailment and assured that efforts are underway to restore normalcy as soon as possible.
