Srinagar, Dec 12: Parts of Kashmir valley, in north and southern districts, received season’s first snowfall on Thursday while some tourist resorts like Sonamarg and Pahalgam were blanketed by around 10 inches of fresh snowfall.
“As predicted, light snowfall was generally observed in some plains during the early morning hours, while some higher reaches have recorded a heavy spell of snow,” read a post on X by an independent weather forecaster.

He said that weather will remain dry in J&K during the next 12 hours, with chances of rain and snow in some areas. “Overall, no major spell is expected,” he said.
From tomorrow onwards, mostly dry weather is expected for a week, said the forecaster on his X page, ‘Kashmir Weather’.
Reports said that Heerpora in south Kashmir’s Shopian district received a heavy spell of snow.
As per footage shared on social media by the residents, fresh snowfall was recorded in Sonamarg, Pahalgam and Tangmarg.
Baramulla in north Kashmir also saw the season’s first snowfall, with authorities pressing machinery into service to clear snow from Narbal-Baramulla highway.
