In-service candidates complain of ‘official hurdles’ within deptt

Srinagar. Dec 11: The in-service employees of the School Education Department (SED) on Wednesday complained of facing official hurdles while applying for the lecturer post earlier advertised by the J&K Public Service Commission (PSC).

A group of in-service employees complained that while applying for the lecturer posts online on the JKPSC website, they are required to obtain a certificate from the department to authenticate their services.

“But once we approach the concerned ZEO office they pass the buck to the CEO office and the clerical staff in the CEO office ask us to produce a hard copy of the application form to prove that we are applying for the post,” the aspirants said.

They said the JKPSC has clearly mentioned in their notification that the aspirants do not have to submit any hardcopy of the application form. “And unless we won’t submit all the details online our application form will not get generated. But clerical staff in CEO offices are forcing us to get application forms,” an in-service aspirant from Baramulla said.

The in-service aspirants urged the authorities in the department to intervene in the matter and issue instructions to the staff in CEO offices not to create unnecessary hurdles for the employees.

However, a top official said the instructions will be issued to all the CEOs to resolve the issues of the in-service employees applying for the lecturer positions without any inconveniences. “The matter will be looked into on priority,” the official said.

Meanwhile the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) aspiring for lecturer positions also urged the government to relax the age bar for them at par with other states.

“We urge the J&K Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister and the J&K Chief Secretary to consider our demand and relax our age bar to 48 years. In other states, the upper age limit for PwDs is 48 years but in J&K it is only 42,” a group of PwD said.

The PwDs urged the government to issue necessary instructions to the social welfare department in this regard and the upper age limit for them should be 48 years for submission of applications for any government jobs.
