Kupwara, Dec 11: Tension gripped the Langate area early Wednesday after a Road Opening Party (ROP) found a suspected object near Divisional Forest Office Langate following which a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called to defuse it.
During the course of action, traffic was diverted to an alternative route till the suspected IED was defused.
An official said that the suspected IED was destroyed through a controlled explosion, without causing any damage or harm to anyone.
Later, traffic was restored on the Handwara-Baramulla highway.
