Rajouri, Dec 8: Four members of a family including three children died due to suspected food poisoning in a remote village in Rajouri district.
However, police has registered a case and started investigation to ascertain the actual cause of the death.
As per officials, six members of a family hailing from Badhal village of Rajouri’s Kotranka sub division fell ill due to suspected food poisoning.
“They were shifted to local civil hospital and then referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Associated Hospital Rajouri where Fazal Hussain (40) died,” officials said.
They said the deceased wife and their five children were shifted from GMC Associated Hospital to Jammu where three children died in Shalamar Child Hospital. They were identified as Rabia Kousar (15), Raftar Ahmed (4), and Farmana Kouser (10). Their mother Shamim Akhter (38) and another sibling Ruksar Ahmed (12) are under treatment in a hospital.
“A man and his three children died in the incident while wife and another child are under treatment,” Additional Deputy Commissioner Kotranka, Dil Mir said. He added that necessary legal proceedings have been taken up into the matter and cause of death is being investigated. Prima facie it is suspected to be a case of food poisoning.
