District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Patiala directed Britannia Industries Limited to pay the cost of Biscuit – ₹ 10/- along with interest @8% per annum from the date of purchase of the said packet i.e. June 28, 2017.
The commission has further directed Britannia to pay the Compensation – ₹ 15,000/- with Litigation Cost – ₹ 5,000/-.
The order has been passed pursuant to a complaint under the Consumer Protection Act, regarding the declaration of weight.
The Certified Copy of the Order was received by the Company on November 5, 2024. “The event is being reported promptly after the same is brought to the notice of Company’s Officials,” Britannia Industries said in the stock filing.
