Rajouri admin finalises Diwali arrangements

Rajouri, Oct 25: Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, the arrangements for Diwali festival were finalized today here at meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Rajeev Kumar Khajuria.

The discussions focussed on ensuring a safe, joyous and well-managed festival across the district.

The meeting focused on essential arrangements, ranging from uninterrupted utility services to traffic and safety measures, involving heads of stakeholder departments and representatives.

Several directives were issued to ensure a seamless celebration.

Executive Engineer, Power Development Department (PDD) was instructed to upgrade maintenance of power distribution system to provide adequate supply to residents and businesses across the District.

The Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, represented by the Executive Engineer, committed to ensuring the availability of adequate water supply, prioritizing areas with high demand. The Traffic Department was asked to deploy additional personnel to prevent traffic congestion, particularly in high-traffic areas and near key festive zones.

The Executive Officer (EO) of the Municipal Committee was directed to illuminate the town with lights at major activity areas and ensure cleanliness in all public spaces, adding to the festive ambiance and maintaining public hygiene.

To control crowding and maintain public order, a single, designated “Cracker Zone” has been established for firecracker sales. This measure will reduce congestion in the main town area and facilitate organized vendor activity. Fire & Emergency Services was directed to deploy three fire tenders at strategic locations, including the bus stand, near the Tehsil Office and in the Jawahar Nagar area, ensuring prompt response in case of any emergency during the celebrations.

The Health Department will deploy a team of doctors and an ambulance near the town area to provide medical assistance in case of any health-related emergencies.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Assistant Commissioner Revenue Rajouri Jahangir Khan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Executive Officer of Municipal Committee, Tehsildar Rajouri and representatives from the civil society, ensuring a collaborative approach to addressing the needs of all residents during the Diwali festivities.
