Srinagar, Oct 4: In memory of late Syeda Tazha, the Cancer Society of Kashmir organised a free awareness and breast screening camp at its office, 4-Bagh-i-Islam Colony, Lal Nagar, Chanapora, Srinagar, today.
Free consultations were provided to the general public and cancer patients. Patients registered with the CSK also attended for OPD consultations. The event was supervised by Prof (Dr) Mohammad Maqbool Lone (General Secretary) and attended by various reputed oncologists specialising in different aspects of cancer care.
The event was organized under the supervision of the specialists including, Prof (Dr.) M. Maqbool Lone (Radiation Oncologist) – General Secretary, Prof. (Dr.) Nazir Ahmad Khan (Radiation Oncologist) – Senior Consultant / Medical Superintendent, Prof. (Dr.) Nisar Ahmad Wani (Onco-Surgeon) – Treasurer, Prof. (Dr.) Aleem M. Jan (Haemato-Oncologist) – Managing Committee Member, Dr. Shahida Nasreen (Associate Professor / Radiation Oncologist) and Dr. Taskeen Mehmood (Radiation Oncologist).
A large number of patients from various parts of the Valley were examined. Poor and deserving patients suffering from different types of cancers were provided with free anti-cancer drugs as part of CSK’s routine practice. Additionally, screenings were conducted by female oncologists.
In addition to consultations and examinations, an awareness lecture on cancer was delivered by Prof (Dr) Nazir Ahmad Khan (Consultant / Medical Superintendent). The day’s activities were carried out smoothly with the active participation of the CSK staff, under the supervision of the Administration Department, whose hard work ensured the event’s success.
It is important to note that the Cancer Society of Kashmir offers several facilities to cancer patients.
