Kathua, Feb 10: Police Monday arrested two drug peddlers with approximately 10.72 grams of heroin (Chitta)-like substance in the Rajbagh area of Kathua district.
A Police spokesperson said, “In continuation to its tough action against drug menace and its propagators within the district, J&K Police recovered approximately 10.72 grams of heroin (Chitta) like narcotics near Khanpur area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Rajbagh and two drug peddlers were arrested.”
“A team of Police Station Rajbagh, during patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area at Khanpur area, apprehended two suspicious persons namely Abhinandan, son of Balkar Singh, resident of Palli tehsil in Kathua and Feroz, son of Salim, resident of Saharanpur, at present working under MEGA Company Barnoti, when they were coming towards Khanpur under suspicious circumstances,” spokesperson said.
“During checking, approximately 10.72 grams of heroin-like narcotics were recovered from their possession. They were doing illegal trade selling narcotic contraband among the youth of Rajbagh in order to gain illegitimate profit,” he said.
The recovered heroin was seized and both persons were arrested by the Police.
In this connection, a case vide FIR No 25/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Rajbagh and further investigation was taken up, the spokesperson said, adding, “Kathua Police again requests people of the area to come forward and share information about any such illicit activity with Police for the cause. Their identity will be kept confidential.”
