Ramban, Dec 20: The last stage of the work on the 17 km Katra –Banihal section on the much-awaited USBRL project is almost complete as Commissioner Railways Safety is going to conduct a statutory inspection of last and final 16.501 km rail line on the Katra-Reasi section of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla New BG Rail Link (USBRL), project in the first week of January, 2025.
In an official communique, the Northern Railways has been asked to arrange the movement of the “inspection carriage nominated for the Commissioner of Railways Safety, Northern Circle New Delhi for the statutory inspection for the opening of Katra-Reasi (16.501kms) section of Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla New BG Rail Line Project on 5 to 6 January, 2025.”
It has been stated that during the inspection the CAO/USBRL, CBE, CSE, COM-G, CEGE, from headquarters DMR/FZR and BOs shall accompany the Commissioner Railways Safety.
Officials said the Commissioner of Railways Safety (CRS) would submit an inspection report to the union government on January 8. It is important to mention here that with the inspection of the 17 km rail line between Katra and Reasi, the 272 km long USBRL project would be completed.
Official sources said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch this much-awaited rail service between New Delhi and Kashmir by or before January 2025.
