Poonch, Dec 9: In an operation aimed at curbing the menace of drug trafficking, the Poonch Police have recovered 20 grams of heroin within the jurisdiction of Police Station Mandi.
This has been stated by police in its official statement. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a police team led by PSI Sham Lal, SHO Mandi conducted a search operation in the Kalani Bridge of Mandi.
During the operation, the team intercepted a suspect and upon thorough examination, recovered twenty grams of Heroine like substance from his possession.
The accused has been identified by police as Inam Ul Haq son of Khadam Hussain resident of Dhundak Poonch who has been taken into custody for further investigation, police said.
This recovery underscores the commitment of the Poonch Police to eliminating drug-related activities in the region, police further said.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Poonch police station and further investigations are underway to uncover the source of the contraband and identify any possible links to larger drug networks.
SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain commended the swift action of the police team and reiterated the department’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug-related crimes.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station to help maintain peace and security in the region.
